Now in its 36th season, Philharmonia Northwest was established in 1976 by Frances Walton as the chamber symphony arm of the Thalia Symphony. It has been an independent branch of Thalia Allied Artists since 1985, taking its current name in 1987 under long-time Music Director Roupen Shakarian. The Orchestra is comprised of approximately 40 musicians from the Puget Sound area, who volunteer their talents and perform music ranging from the works of the Baroque era to world premieres.

Directed by Julia Tai, their repertoire ranges from the Baroque period to the present, and in discovering unknown works from the past and to the present.
