This map of Laurelhurst was created in 1936 and shows how the streets were named at the time St. Stephen’s was under construction. Due to address renumbering and street realignment over the years, some of the addresses once associated with the church no longer exist. For example, the church owned properties at 4823 and 4829 East 45th Street, but you won’t find those addresses on a modern map. This map suggests that those properties were likely located right next to the church.
The original address of St. Stephen’s was 4805 East 45th Street, as NE 45th Street did not exist when ground was first broken in 1936. On the map, the approximate location of the church is highlighted in yellow, former church-owned properties from the early years are marked in green, and Dr. Pritchard’s house in blue.
